Workshop content:

We recommend you take part in the Face-up suspensions 1 -workshop unless you are already familiar with face up suspensions and have practiced transitions as part of your suspension play.

In this workshop, roo and Nana teach a longer and more advanced transition sequence, starting with the same or similar face-up suspension as taught in the previous workshop. We then practice other parts of the sequence individually, and finally, combine all the different shapes and elements into a 360° transition sequence.

The workshop will cover

  • building a solid lifting point to the front and back of an upper-body-harness

  • suspension-line management and lifting techniques

  • managing changes in weight distribution on a single point

  • time management and exit plans

  • tools and safety for transitioning from backbends to inversion and vice versa

  • bottoming skills for smoother transitions

Please sign up with a tying partner as exercises are done in pairs. You will receive an info-mail about a week before the workshop.

Skill requirements:

Riggers:

  • Understanding of your own and your partner's limits, and capability to make informed, negotiated decisions, including under stressful circumstances

  • A solid upper body harness that suits your bottom’s needs and withstands load from the front and back (e.g. tengu, gote, strappado, or other)

  • Skills to make adjustments to your ties to suit your bottom’s needs

  • Ability to tie solid structures that stay in place when loaded from different directions

  • Previous experience and skills in suspension-line attachments, locking, and lifting techniques

Bottoms:

  • Understanding of your own and your partner's limits, and capability to make informed, negotiated decisions

  • Understanding the risks and ability to check for symptoms of nerve injuries

  • Some previous experience of bottoming in suspension transitions

  • Ability to give feedback on tension and potential issues, and to communicate under stressful circumstances

  • You should be comfortable with having a part of your weight on a hip harness (a minimal structure, or a more complex one if you know which adjustments work for you)

Needed for this workshop:

  • Suspension equipment for a single point (if you don’t have a ring let us know beforehand)

  • Minimum of four (4) ropes in good condition for suspension lines, 8 ropes on the body and 1-2 carabiners.

  • Clothing made of non-slippery fabrics for those being tied
