Malli: roo
Hinta: 25 e/hlö, kysy alennettua hintaa
Venue: Eskus, sali III
Ilmoittautuminen: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Kertauskurssi on tarkoitettu jo sidonnan teknisiin perusteisiin tutustuneille.

Korona-tilanteesta johtuen etsi itsellesi sidontakaveri jo ennen kurssin alkua.

  • Olet jo tutustunut kehosi yleisimpiin reaktioihin sidonnan aikana

17.-19.9.2021 Kanna & Kagura (JP)

★Kanna&Kagura's European Queer Kinbaku tour in September 2021★

About Kanna & Kagura

縄師 神凪 Nawashi Kanna (X-gender) and 神楽 Kagura are a Japanese queer rope couple who have been together 14 years. Kanna’s school of rope, Kanna-ryu, combines teachings of rope legend Akechi Denki and historical hojojutsu, rope torture methods. In Kanna-ryu, every rope, every placement, every tension and action should have an intention that the person tying is controlling. More important than tying patterns, is to give the rope bottom sweet consensual torment, delicious suffering and relief.

If you've taken Kanna’s workshop in the past or an online class, you've learned basics and you are probably familiar with Kanna-ryu!

Some of the content may overlap, but this series would be instructive for upgrading your skills or polishing off your knowledge. About the workshops in Kanna & Kagura’s own words:

We've always been hoping to be committed to providing safe, respectful, equitable and enjoyable learning environments for queer or gender diverse students while supporting their development and interaction with their partner. So we are super excited to share these with you!

Our education plan puts students focusing on lifelong learning (the long-term benefits for sustainable rope activities) first, along with exploring a variety of approaches and methods or diverse possibility, while prioritizing developing step-by-step skills, creativity, knowledge and experience, rather than pushing new patterns practice as many as possible.

Please don't compare yourself to other students. There are no rankings, no comparisons or competition between students or schools in Shibari and workshops. Shibari is available for Every Bodies of all ages, genders and abilities. Differences that vary from person to person could be valued as individual characteristics, and grow creativity with special needs. Our doing rope activities Shibari or Kinbaku is interpersonal communication even in group learning. Focus on yourself, your partner, your interests and your goals!

Classes are designed for you. But for teaching contents and Shibari works shared in classes, it doesn't mean you get all the rights. [*Works created by someone is intellectual property. 17.-19.9.2021 Kanna & Kagura (JP)

★Kannan ja Kaguran Euroopan Queer Kinbaku -kiertue syyskuussa 2021★

Kannasta & Kagurasta

縄師 神凪 Nawashi Kanna (X-gender) ja 神楽 Kagura ovat japanilainen queer-pariskunta, jotka ovat sitoneet yhdessä jo 14 vuotta.

Työpajojen videoiminen on kielletty.

Päivä 1: Kanna-ryun perusteet (keskitaso) klo12-19

Hinta yhdelle päivälle: 90€/hlö (vähävaraislippu 80€, kannatuslippu 100€)
Paikka: Eskus, sali I
Hakemus: link (paina linkkiä!)
Osallistujien maksimi: 10 pairs

Vaatimukset:

Semenawa / BDSM-leikki / Predicament / Supporture (keskitaso - edistyneet) klo12-19

Hinta yhdelle päivälle: 90€/hlö (vähävaraislippu 80€, kannatuslippu 100€)
Paikka: Eskus, sali I
Hakemus: link (paina linkkiä!)
Osallistujien maksimi: 10 pairs

On olemassa monia eri tapoja lähestyä kärsimystä köysissä.

Vaatimukset:

  • Olet queer, queer-henkinen tai queer-liittolainen
  • Sitojalla osaamista box tie-/TK-sidonnan köysien sijoitteluista ja tiukkuuksista sekä yleisemmistä kitkoista (x-kitka, half moon, munter hitch, reverse munter hitch, half hitch, yuki knot)
  • Kokemusta suspensioista

26.9.2021 Ties for advanced floor play at 13.30-17.30

Teacher: Nana
Model: roo
Price: 25 e/person, ask for reduced price
Venue: Eskus, sali III
Registrations: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Language: English/Finnish
Accessibility: Eskus is accessible via elevator and has one accessible toilet. Please contact the organisers in advance to get access to the elevator.

This is a new workshop concept that started to develop during the time when me (Nana) and my rope partners did not have a suspension point to play with. I still wanted to create rope experiences that would be effective in connection, fun, and unpredictable in ways that allow the person tying to plan ahead as well as improvise while tying.

We will show two upper-body-ties that you can play with and combine to your own dynamics and ideas. We will tie a hands-front position (strappado) and a low-hands-behind-the-back position (gote), both of which are adaptable for different body types.

We will learn how to build ties from the perspective of restricting the bottom’s body and experimenting with the kinetic chain. We will also focus on building up intentions and non-verbal communication in play. The workshop includes tying neck rope for sensational purposes and the safety aspects of that.

All exercises are done in pairs, because of the covid-situation please find your tying partner in advance. You will receive an info-mail about safety precautions and other details on a week before the workshop.

Participant requirements:

  • To get the most out of this workshop, you will need advanced tying and communication skills to keep up. There is a lot of content, so fluently starting your rope, handling tension and versatile friction work is required from the people tying in this workshop.
  • Bottoms should be familiar with their body reactions in ropes and able to communicate when unsure of or not okay with something.
  • Understanding of your own and partner's limits and willingness to listen and communicate these as well as you can.
  • 5 – 10 ropes, safety scissors or rope cutting tool

3.10.2021 SOLD OUT Beginner Workshop 01 - rope technique and safety at 13.30-17.30

Teachers: Hansu & Aleksi
Price: 25 e/person, ask for reduced price
Venue: Eskus, sali III
Registration: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Language: English/Finnish
Accessibility: Eskus is accessible via elevator and has one accessible toilet. Please contact the organisers in advance to get access to the elevator.

The beginner workshops 1: Rope technique and Safety and 2: Creativity and flow are designed to go together. To get the most comprehensive experience, it is recommended to attend both. However, you can attend only one or the other.
Welcome to take the first steps in our beginner friendly twin workshops! Our goals are to offer you a space in which you can begin your path towards your own exploration, expression and mutual creativity; and in which to test and reflect what tying and being tied feels like. It is possible to switch and also recommended in some exercises.

In the first part on Sunday the 3.10. we'll touch on some basic physical rope safety, handling the ropes, making some basic ties (including lark’s head, direction changer, half hitch, adding new rope and single column tie) and moving together with your partner. Also included are some social and emotional safety ideas such as negotiation, communication and after care.

You will need comfortable clothes, a water bottle and a gym mat or blanket to tie on. We recommend bringing some snacks and a prepared lunch, since there are limited restaurants and shops near the venue.

You’ll need one or two 8m ropes. We recommend tying with your own personal rope, however, for this workshop some loaner rope is available. A well treated natural fiber rope such as jute is our favorite, but others will work as well. If you need tips on where to buy or how to make rope, you’re welcome to e-mail us.

Participant requirements (part 1):

  • Please review Helsinki Shibari's Safer Space guidelines at http://helsinkishibari.com/ front page.
  • No other prior knowledge needed.
  • No physical requirements for participants. Please inform us if you have any conditions you feel we should know about. Eskus is wheelchair accessible.

24.10.2021 Bottomoinnin alkeet klo13.30-17.30 (beginners/aloittelijat/multi-level)

Opettajat: Amy & Isla
Hinta: 25 e/henkilö, kysy alennettua hintaa
Paikka: Eskus, sali III
Kieli: suomi
Ilmoittautuminen: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Bottomoinnin alkeet antaa eväät oman bottomointimatkan aloittamiseen. Työpajassa mietimme, mitä bottomointi on, kuinka sidontasessioon valmistaudutaan ja mitä sidottavan tulisi tietää turvallisuudesta. Yhdessä luomme työpajassa jokaiselle osallistujalle oman riskiprofiilin, sekä kokeilemme kuinka omalla hengityksellä voi vaikuttaa kokemukseen köysissä. Työpaja pitää sisällään ryhmäkeskusteluja ja yksin tehtäviä harjoituksia.

Työpajan vetäjät Amy May ja Isla Ika ovat kokeneita köysiswitchejä. Työpaja on koostettu asioista, joita he olisivat itse halunneet kuulla oman bottomointimatkansa alussa.
Työpaja sopii kaikille bottomoinnista kiinnostuneille rooliin katsomatta.

Sunday: Self Suspension Basics at 11-18

Price: 40€/person
Venue: Eskus, sali III
Language: English/Finnish
Registration: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Self suspension is a very dynamic artform. You can create interesting shapes and sensations, explore how moving inside the ropes affects your center of gravity, your weight in the ropes, and sense even small differences in your tying immediately. You can explore where ropes feel good or bad, and where they feel bad in a good way. You find which parts of your body are strong, and you can put trust in the parts that feel weak to teach your body that you are capable and enough.
In this workshop we will work both close to the floor and standing up. We will create one M-shaped suspension while standing up. Close to the floor, we will explore movement and different positions.

Participant requirements: Solid understanding of the single column tie, basic rope handling skills, basic experience with suspension line management.

Contents include:
· Self suspension safety
· Suspension line basics for self suspension
· Ceci’s chest harness for vertical self suspension
· M-shaped suspension
· Creativity and improvisation

Requirements for participants: Solid understanding of the single column tie, frictions (half hitch, munter hitch, X-friction/L-friction), tension and some experience tying patterns.

7.11.2021 Partial Suspensions at 13.30-19.30 (intermediate/keskitaso)

Teacher: Amy
Model: Lili
Price: 35 e/person, ask for reduced price
Venue: Eskus, sali III
Registration: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Language: English/Finnish
Accessibility: Eskus is accessible via elevator and has one accessible toilet. Please contact the organisers in advance to get access to the elevator.

In floorwork we have the element of the earth/ground, and in suspension we have the element of air, but in partials we have both of them. This is what makes partials sometimes hard but also very interesting. The force of gravity is somehow deeper and it limits the possibilities of body and rope. In this workshop we’ll go deep into partial suspensions. We’ll go through some body mechanics and how the body moves in partials. We’ll learn how to lower your suspension point with rope, and how you can use the suspenion line as a tool for body manipulation.
Basic suspension technique is not teached in this workshop, please have earlier experience of suspension before coming to this workshop. Please note that this is a partnered workshop, please find a partner in advance.

Requirements for riggers

  • Capability to make though trough decisions and understanding of risks in suspensions
  • Knowledge to tie some kind of solid upper body harness (ex. tk. strappado, butterfly harness, ceci’s hands front harness)
  • Earlier experience of suspensions or partial suspensions
  • Trust built with the partner you participate

Requirements for bottoms/models

  • Good understanding of one's own body
  • Good understanding of your own nerves and risks you take in suspensions
  • Trust built with the rigger and good communication between you two

The teacher of the workshop has been obsessed by partials for some months now and thinks they are the best.

14.11.2021 Bottom Lab: Työpaja Sidottaville at 13.30-17.30

Opettajat: Ruu, sitomassa Nana
Hinta: 25 e/hlö, kysy alennettua hintaa
Paikka: Eskus, sali III
Ilmoittautuminen: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Kieli: Suomi/ English if needed

‘Bottom lab’ on jatkotason työpaja, kohtaamispaikka ja hiljaisen tiedon laboratorio, jonka keskiössä ovat sidottavan kokemukset, tarpeet, taidot ja mahdollisuudet. Työpaja syntyi tarpeesta tehdä näkyväksi ja saavutettavaksi sidottavana olemiseen liittyvää vastuuta, toimijuutta ja erityisosaamista. Koska antautuminen on taito, passiivisuus on (ihana?) illuusio.

Aulassa on yksi esteetön, sukupuolineutraali WC. Tilaan on esteetön kulku hissillä. Hissi toimii avaimella, joten olethan yhteydessä etukäteen jos tarvitset hissiä.

Viittomakielen tulkeille ja henkilökohtaisille avustajille työpaja on maksuton. Ilmoitathan tulkista/avustajasta etukäteen, jottei tapahtuman sallittu osallistujamäärä ylity!

21.11.2021 Suspensiotekniikka ja -estetiikka klo13.30-19.30 (keskitaso/edistyneet) PERUTTU

Opettaja: Amy

Vaatimukset sitojalta

  • Olet tehnyt suspensioita aiemmin useampia kertoja, staattisten suspensioiden tekeminen sujuu jo hyvin
  • Sujuva suspensiolinjojen käsittely
  • Osaat sitoa sujuvasti jonkin ylävartaloharnessin (esim. TK, strappado, butterfly harness, ceci’s hands front harness)
  • Tiedät yleisimmät lukinnat renkaalle ja harnesseihin (flag friction, 360 friction, double bight, half hitch, y-hanger, epsilon, single column tie, larkshead)

Vaatimukset sidottavalta

  • Tunnet itsesi ja kehosi hyvin
  • Osaat kommunikoida selkeästi sitojallesi, jonka kanssa olette rakentaneen luottamussuhteen jo ennen työpajaa
  • Sinulla on jo kokemusta kokosuspensioista

Vaatimukset sitojalta:

  • Hyvä ymmärrys sitomisen perusteista ja lattiasidonnoista. Kokemusta erilaisten harnessien tai improvisoitujen patternien sitomisesta.
  • Sujuva ymmärrys shibariin liittyvistä peruskitkoista (reverse tension/vastakitka, direction change/suunnan vaihto, munter hitch, x-friction).
  • Ymmärrys omista ja partnerin rajoista, osaaminen tehdä hyvin neuvoteltuja ja suunniteltuja päätöksiä.
  • Tarvitset vähintään kolme suspension kestävää köyttä (uusimmat ja kovimmat köydet), sekä 3-8 köyttä harnesseja varten. Valitettavasti emme voi lainata köysiä.

Vaatimukset sidottavalta

The box tie, gote, TK (takate kote)... a dear child has many names. The TK is one of the fundamentals of Japanese rope bondage. It serves as the base of several suspension positions and teaches us many of the basic techniques of tying. It's a tie designed to torment the body from within by severely restricting movement of the shoulder joint, shoulderblades and chest.

Workshop contents include:

  • The history, styles, purpose and intention of the TK
  • Body positioning, different arm positions and tension management for different body types
  • Upper wrap tension and placement, friction variations
  • Lower wrap tension and placement, friction variations
  • TK specific safety
  • (If there is time: third rope variations for different suspension positions)

Participant requirements:

  • Solid understanding of frictions and fundamentals: tension and counter tension, single column tie, half hitch, munter hitch, X-friction, L-friction, half moon
  • If you intend to test the tie in suspension: solid understanding of suspension line locking
  • Ability to have the arms tied behind the back in either a low, parallel or high position
  • Ability for both the person tying and the person being tied to communicate boundaries, preferences and problems with each other.

About Gestalta

"I was introduced to shibari in 2007 and have been immersed in it ever since.

My interest was initially sparked by the aesthetic; the seemingly organic structure of rope melding with flesh, in the works of Nobyoshi Araki, and other artists whose works I had collected in scraps from the few Japanese publications available.

As I began to practice it myself I also found an interest in exploring the potential of ropes to open up new ways to connect with the body, with other people, and the effects of pushing myself into seemingly ‘extreme’ psychological and physical states.

I began using shibari in performance in around 2009 and developed an interest in impermanent structures, and the fragile balances found between us, our environment, and within intimate connections.

Although I see shibari very much as an art form, it is also important to me that it’s roots in pornography are not glossed over; I see it also as a powerful way of reconciling any perceived conflict between art and sex and exploring the relationship between the two."

Day 1: Starting suspensions (intermediate) at 11-18

Level:

  • People who tie must be confident tying a chest harness (of any kind that their partner is comfortable with), and have some basic experience of attaching and locking suspension lines.
  • People who are tied should have a familiarity with their body within basic harnesses (on the floor or in partial suspension is fine).

Switching is ok after each exercise, but there won’t be time for switching pairs to repeat each exercise twice.

Content: This workshop is aimed at people who are just starting out with suspension. We will look at a few basic suspension positions (which could, depending on time, include side, face down, running person, face up or bridge) with a view to better understanding the anatomy and mechanics of the tied body.

We will break this down using simple floor/partial suspension exercises before moving into the air. I will also be happy to help with any issues individuals may be having with the harnesses or suspension lines themselves.

Exact content may vary based on the group.

Day 2: Suspension transitions (advanced) at 11-18

Level:

  • People who tie must be confident tying a chest harness (of any kind that their partner is comfortable with), and be confident with performing suspensions.
  • People who are tied should have a familiarity with their body in suspension, including an awareness of nerves and breathing.

Switching is ok after each exercise, but there won’t be time for switching pairs to repeat each exercise twice.

Content: This workshop will have a focus on suspensions and transitions. We will also use some basic floor/partial suspension exercises with with a view to better understanding the anatomy and mechanics of the tied body in the air.

We will learn the spellbound tk, and for a static face down backbend, and then focus on transitions which could, depending on time/the group, include bridge into side suspension, quick movements in or out of face down suspensions, or using simple transition sequences. A break down of hip harnesses could also be included.

Exact content may vary based on the group.

After tying solidly on the floor and learning complicated patterns it's exhilarating to start suspensions. How ever there's bigger risks when going in the air. In this workshop you'll learn how to start that journey. We'll look into fundamentals of suspension safety and tie few suspension worthy patterns. You'll learn basic frictions used for suspension lines (flag friction, half hitch, the yuki knot, slip knot). We'll also look at basic lockings when suspending from a bamboo.

We'll start with partial suspension and then go full into the air. It is possible to stay only on the floor.

Participant requirements:

  • Solid understanding and experience of fundamentals of tying on the floor (single and double column ties, ladder). Experience in tying patterns and improvised floor tying.
  • Solid understanding of basic frictions (reverse tension, dicertion change, munter hitch, x-friction).
  • Understanding of own and partner's limits, and capability to make informed, negotiated decisions.
  • No physical requirements for participants, all kinds of bodies are welcome to join.
  • You will need at least three ropes that are suspension worthy, and 3-8 ropes for patterns used in the class.

5.4.2020 CANCELLED Selftying and self suspension (intermediate) with Ceci Ferox and Fittglitter (Stockholm) 11-18

Times: 11-18 incl. 1 h lunch break

It's like masturbation, but with tying.

Selftying and self suspension are very dynamic artforms. Not only can you transition by moving the ropes, but you also transition by moving your body in the ropes. You can create interesting shapes and sensations, explore how moving affects your center of gravity, your weight in the ropes, and sense even small differences in your tying immediately. You can explore where ropes feel good or bad, and where they feel bad in a good way. You find which parts of your body are strong. You are your own teacher in this workshop - we provide you with inspiration, a safer space and tools for your journey and experimentation.

Contents include:

  • Selftying inspiration, also including tying for masturbation
  • Self suspension safety and suspension line basics
  • Body anatomy, body mechanics and energy management

Participant requirements:

  • Solid understanding of tension, the single column tie and basic fricctions (half hitch, munter hitch) learned at peer rope or in a workshop.
  • Experience with suspension line management.
  • We will work in pairs. You can find a pair in advance or at the workshop.
  • Bring your own suspension worthy ropes and if possible a suspension ring/carabiners

Harnesses are beautiful and handy in rope bondage, and there’s so many ways of using them. The focus is on lower body harnesses.

In this workshop you can choose if you want to approach harnesses in the aspect of suspension or if you want to study them for picture/photoshoot purposes. We’ll work in groups to solve some problems and create new harnesses together! We won’t be doing any step by step patterns but rather inventing our own.

Single registrations ok. Exercises are done in pairs, you can either register together or find a partner in the workshop.
This is a multi level workshop. It means people from different levels of tying can participate. Please note that you’ll get most out of this workshop if;

  • You have some earlier experience in tying, you know single column tie and some basic frictions (ladder, direction changer/half hitch and munter hitch) before coming to this class.

29.9.2019 Floorwork (intermediate) 13.30-17.30

In this workshop we seek to embrace play and creativity when tying on floor.

Positioning, shapes and the way of tying affect our feelings a lot.

We will do exercises that allow us to practice:

  • Transitioning from a shape to another
  • Predicaments or other narratives that can bring up interesting emotion to explore and play with
  • Clearing intentions and how to put it in your rope practice

Keep in mind that working with intention and emotion towards a rope scene might not be easy: be gentle to yourself and come with an open and inventive mind.

Participant requirements:

  • A partner /pair to tie with
  • Awareness of basic body mechanics: knowing and respecting your and your partners physical limits
  • Basic negotiation and communication skills, willingness to trouble shoot & work through challenges
  • Solid understanding at least of the single column tie, direction changer and x-friction and locking off the tie. Knowing how to use these and/or other technique to create solid floor ties.

Language: Finnish and/or English, according to needs.

What to bring:
6 ropes or more each approx. 8 meters in length. A sketchbook and pen if you wish to make notes. Comfortable clothing, drinking bottle and snacks, a lunch if you like. There will be a food break of ca 30-40 mins (you may use the kitchen in Eskus).
All exercises are done with one’s own tying partner(s).
Language: Finnish and/or English, according to needs.

6.10.2019 Frictions and fundamentals: getting started (beginner) at 12-19

This workshop is designed to give you insight into the very basics of rope bondage. We focus on why we do what we do, both technically as well as in our communication before, while and after tying.

Themes:

  • Tension and rope flow
  • Larkshead, the single column tie and basic frictions
  • Classical poses for tying on the floor, body mechanics
  • Negotiation, safety and communication basics

Participant requirements:

  • No prior knowledge needed.
  • No physical requirements for participants.
  • Exercises are done in pairs, you can either register together or find a partner at the workshop.

The content includes an introduction to the single column tie, but we recommend attending peer rope on Fridays to learn the tie as it is much easier to learn in a one-on-one setting. Helsinki Shibari has ropes you can borrow.

13.10.2019 Breath play (intermediate) 13.30 - 17.30

Breath play is edgy, dark, very primal and amongst other things quite dangerous. Breathing is at the very core of life itself. Tapping into the fear of losing the grip on life can be intoxicating, terrifying, disorienting and fuzzy-floating. It can heighten the senses or blur them completely, tossing one down the slope of submission.

Breath play in the sense of this workshop is not just about a hand or a rope on a neck. It’s also about finding creative ways to deprive the brain from oxygen or blood. It’s crucial that participants understand the importance of safety and risks in this very special type of play. This workshop will be a combined lecture and hands-on experience.

During this workshop we will learn

  • The anatomy of the neck
  • Differences between types of oxygen deprivation (blood vs air/oxygen)
  • Communication and negotiations, before, during and aftercare
  • The dangers of breath play, auto asphyxiation, mitigating the risks
  • Creative breath play techniques
  • What to do if things don’t go as planned

Although bringing a partner is not a requirement, coming with someone you are familiar playing with will be the best way to get the most out of it.

3.11.2019 Semi-suspension (intermediate) 13.30-17.30 FULL

There are endless possibilities in working with partial suspensions. We will look into handling the body on suspension lines. We also learn how to manipulate the bottom's position, making use of one's weight and the gravity / suspension -contradiction.

This is not a technical-only workshop: trust and communication with your partner comes always first and we will take time to focus on that.

This workshop will suit you best:

  • If you are already familiar with basic suspension techniques and wish to play with and better understand the bottom's centre of gravity
  • If you need guidance for starting rope suspensions and want a check-in on things you should consider

This is an intermediate-level workshop!

Pre-requirements:

Riggers:

  • Solid understanding of a single column tie.
  • A solid upper body tie, with a secure stem on the back (chest harness, TK, tengu etc.), that can be used for suspension.
You can have your tie checked for suggested improvements but there won't be time to teach a new pattern.
  • Some experience working with suspension lines. This should not be the first time you tie those.

Bottoms:

  • Ability to communicate your needs and awareness of common nerve-issues (please ask if you don't know!)

All exercises are done with one’s own tying partner(s).

Language: Finnish and/or English, according to needs.

We’ll have a small introduction of shibari, and several exercises with and without rope. You’ll learn basic communication skills, negotiation, some basics of rope handling, the larks head knot and few basic frictions. We'll focus on how to build the trust and connection between partners.

Participant requirements:

  • No earlier experience needed.
  • You can borrow ropes from this workshop if you don’t have any.
  • Please note we're doing all the exercises in pairs, no single registrations.

OPEN SPACE Welcome to a day of learning together, peer-to peer! Open space is a method where the group makes the program together. Everyone can facilitate a learning space for a topic they are interested in. We have one room to use, but it should be possible to have two smaller groups going at the same time. In addition, discussions can be held in the lobby/kitchen. This time we suggest focusing on things we have learned at the Helsinki Shibari Festival. You can pop in and out of the space and different groups during breaks or during the slot. Vote with your feet!

SILENT JAM After the open space we will have a silent jam together. At the silent jam, speaking isn't allowed at all and any needed communication like negotiation can be done by writing (speech is of course allowed in emergency situations). The silent jam is an experiment inspired by the former Schwelle 7 in Berlin. We hope that we as participants of the jam will have had enough time to warm up socially during the open space. We will have wearable indicators for people who are open for tying and/or getting tied by others.

Schedule:
13.00-15.30 First program slots
15.30-16.30 Recommended lunch break
16.30-19.00 Second program slots

Fittglitter and Neeka from Bound <3 in Stockholm bring you two one-day workshops: one on self suspension and one on communication.

Fittglitter has been an active Kinbaku practitioners for 4 years. She has been on both sides of the ropes since the start, and has equivalent experience in being the person tying as to the person being tied. This is one of the biggest contributing experiences to her tying and on her journey.

For Neeka, rope is about expressing himself, conveying feelings, creating worlds and to emphasize our innermost beauty. His experience is primarily as a tyer, but he spends considerable time in ropes to learn more. He has a long history of education and training in different contexts and has been organizing qualified training since 2005 and in rope education since 2007. He's trained in teaching both theory and practice, with tools like coaching, experience based learning and reflective methods.

Day 1, 19.1. at 10-17 Self suspension - Nobody knows your body better than you do

This day is about xploring self tying as a way to rediscover your body in a pressure-free context and make it feel amazing. Regardless if you identify as a model, rigger or switch, this day will expand your understanding of your own (and other) bodies.

Self suspension can be compared to selfsex, because you have the full possibility to give yourself exactly what you want at the exact moment that you want it - or dont want it. Self suspension and self tying is a perfect way to explore the limitations of your body in a pressure-free context, so either if you identify as a model, rigger or switch this is a good opportunity for someone who wants to expand their knowledge and understanding of your own (and other) bodies better.

Intention and focus

The first priority or this workshop is to have fun and approach your body and rope in a easy and curious way. The focus will be on  body awareness, creating and analysing both the techniques, patterns and rope together with management of doing self suspensions.

We are only experts of own own bodies, so it is encourages that everybody sees themselves as the teacher of this workshop. Nobody other than yourself can tell what works best for you (body and mind) in different situations.

You will be presented with a framework, tools, experience and a safe space; where you and the other participants will decide on what will happen in the ropes.

To summarize some of the subjects we will work on:

  • Getting to know the anatomy and tying for your body
  • Body management
  • Self-tying safety
  • Upline management
  • Handling mid-air self-suspension issues
  • Time and energy management in the air

Requirements

Beginner* or years of experience tying or being tied doesn't matter in this workshop, we will be working together and work from our own set of knowledge, bodies and safety.

*If you are a beginner and want to be taught specific patterns, techniques and for someone to have all the answers for you; this is not the workshop for you.

Equipment:

  • Bring your own rope (6-10)
  • Safety scissors
  • Suspension gear. (Slings, ring or rigging plate is preferable. Only carabiners is non-preferable. Contact Helsinki Shibari if you need to borrow)

Nice to have:

  • Water bottle
  • Quick sugars
  • Note taking materials
  • Comfort things for when you are drained.

Prerequisite patterns:

  • A single-column-tie, a hip harness of your own choice, and understanding of rope frictions. (Understanding of basic pattern mechanics will be useful but not required.)

Day 2, 20.1. at 10-17 Creating and sharing worlds - communication in practice

Connection, dynamic, co-creation. There are many names for the magic we share in ropes. Everyone talks about it, but how does it actually happen?

This is a workshop on the nitty gritty skills of communicating in a rope scene. How we experience the session and how we express ourselves in it. We will explore several ways to convey meaning and build a conversation, with and without words.

Starting from our own modes of communication, we will explore how we convey meaning, how we understand it and how we change it.

We will explore the framework on intersubjectivity, and practical skills on

  • Body language and touch
  • Words and sounds
  • Toning, voice and pronunciation
  • Movement and expression

Pre-requisites:

We do not have prerequisites on the form of rope experience or skill, but rather in maturity and a willingness to learn. We will (mostly) work hard with mental and emotional aspects of rope, please read the class description carefully and consider if it touches on topics you are willing to work on.

Equipment:

  • Clothes you are comfortable in and that allow a free range of movement.
  • Rope if you want to use it

Nice to have:

  • Water bottle
  • Quick sugars
  • Note taking materials
  • Comfort things for when you are mentally and/or emotionally drained.

General information:

  • This workshop contains about equal content for the roles of tyer and tyee.
  • We do not presuppose any power dynamics, and also don’t oppose them.
  • However, most exercises are about communication in one form or the other - if your power dynamic restricts how you communicate with each other, please consider to ease that restriction for the best experience in our class.

3.3.2019 Box tie for beginners

THE WORKSHOP IS SOLD OUT

Teacher: Nana & roo
Price: 20 e/person, ask for possibility of discounted price
Venue: Eskus
Registration: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

"Box tie" and/or gote is one of the most basic building blocs of Japanese rope bondage. The tie positions the bottom's hands behind their back and locks them to place. There are endless uses and variations to this tie; in this workshop we explore the uses in floorwork. The options how to tie are versatile enough to adjust to different bodies. The pattern will include a hand cuff, a stem, upper- and lower wraps and cinches.

In this workshop we will look into:

  • finding a position that suits the bottom
  • common safety such as rope placement, tightness, nerve and circulation issues
  • practicing and repeating the building blocks of a 2-rope tie
  • moving the bottom on the floor in the tie
  • testing the tie by playing with it.

This workshop is not ideal for switching: you are likely to learn the most by sticking to either tying or being tied.

Participant requirements: A partner /pair to tie with. Solid understanding of the single column tie, direction changer and x-friction. Basic rope handling, negotiation and communication skills. People in ropes should be able to find a suitable hands-behind-back position: horizontal, low-hands crossed or wrists apart from each other. We won't be tying high-hands position, unless you are already familiar with it.

When registering for the workshop, please describe your tying skills and knowledge of the box tie in one or two sentences, so we can accomodate the participants' needs in the best way possible.

Language: Finnish and/or English, according to needs.

What to bring: 3 or more ropes, each approx. 8 meters in length. Comfortable clothes to tie and be tied in. A sketchbook and pen if you wish to make notes. Water bottle and snacks, a lunch if you like. There will be a food break of ca 30-40 mins (you may use the kitchen in Eskus).

  • sidottavan liikuttelu gotessa lattialla

Vaatimokset: Pari /sidontapartneri.

Frictions are the building blocks of any tie, like lego! They make the safety and functionality of any tie. In this workshop we will dive deeper into the frictions for tying on the floor so we can efficiently communicate with our partner. We will look at the ladder, direction changer/half hitch and munter hitch. The content also includes looking at two knots for the single column tie and discussing the functional properties of each. We will continue to learn proper rope handling technique. Helsinki Shibari has ropes you can borrow. This is the second part of a 4 part series and goes well together with part 1 if you are a beginner.

Participant requirements:

  • You can make some kind of single column tie or larkshead.
  • No physical requirements for participants.
  • Exercises are done in pairs, you can either register together or find a partner at the workshop.

The possibilities in partial suspensions are endless. We have the qualities of floor, air and gravity. In this workshop you’ll have the opportunity to explore them all.

We’ll study on manipulating our models body and positions as we also give them some time to test the ties. You’ll be working together to learn the dimensions of partial suspensions and use the gravity as your asset.

I recommend learning some upper body harness (with a possibility to attach a suspension line) before arriving to this workshop. If you don’t know any let me know it in your registration.

This workshop is for you if;
- You’re already familiar with basic suspension frictions and technique
- You want to improve your understanding of a person’s centre of gravity and how to play with that
- You want some guidance before moving to full suspensions

Participant requirements:

  • Good understanding of basic ties, frictions, rope handling and communication skills
  • Some suspension line management experience, this should not be your first suspension workshop
  • People getting tied should have knowledge on nerve impingements and good communication skills

Please note this is an intermediate workshop, no single registrations.

Day 1: Working with body manipulation and armnesses

Skill Requirements: Suspension experience
Skill level: Intermediate-Advanced

Armnesses

This advanced class will cover a variety of suspension worthy harnesses designed to lift from just the arms - no chest support needed! Participants must be proficient in suspension from common chest harnesses with a good grasp of bondage safety basics.

Armensses generally work well for people who can't sustain the box tie position. There is a slight risk of sensation loss in one of the ties for people with tight neck muscles, but proper wrap placement and tension to avoid this will be covered in the class. Bottoms should be capable of sustaining a variety of stress positions involving the arms and shoulders, and be comfortable giving detailed feedback on wrap placement.

Body Mechanics (Ground and Air)

Understanding in an intuitive way the way a body moves in space is essential to sculpting the figure. In this workshop we will explore both on the ground and in the air the way the body moves from the smallest joint lock to the largest transitions, gaining mastery over our efforts to control a person in space in the process.

Day 2: Creating chaos

Skill Requirements: Suspension experience
Skill level: Intermediate-Advanced

Chaotic Rope (Ground and Air)

In this single day workshop we will embrace the beauty of messy rope. Exploring the potential of very unstructured ties first on the ground we will dive into tension management, fixing problems down the line, and containing the figure. From there, we will explore through partial and full suspension two methodologies of safely creating chaos - first by imposing order on an existing chaotic system, and finally by allowing ordered ties to disintegrate into controlled chaos in the air.

We’ll also talk line management, emergency procedures for when the mess gets out of hand, and getting out of corners we’ve tied ourselves into. Bottoms will learn strategies for identifying issues in advance, as well as sensation management techniques for sustaining unusual positions.

7.4.2019 Frictions & fundamentals part 3: suspension (intermediate) at 13.30-17.30

THIS WORKSHOP IS FULL. It's possible to register in line for cancellations.

Teacher: Ceci Ferox
Price: 20 e/person, ask for possibility of discounted price
Venue: Eskus
Registration: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Frictions are the building blocks of any tie, be it a pattern or just freestyle. They make the structure and safety of a tie. In this workshop we will learn the basic frictions used for suspension worthy structures (munter hitch variations, X-friction, L-friction, half moon) and suspension lines (flag friction, half hitch, the yuki knot, slip knot). We can also look at suspending from a bamboo and alternative suspension line frictions depending on the participants' level and interest. The workshop also includes fundamentals of suspension safety.

It is possible to stay on the floor or only do partial suspension in this workshop. This is the third part of a 4 part series, but practice is required after parts 1 & 2 to attend this one.

Participant requirements:

  • Solid understanding of the fundamentals for the floor (single and double column ties, ladder, half hitch, munter hitch).
  • Understanding of own and partner's limits and capability to make informed, negotiated decisions.
  • No physical requirements for participants.
  • Exercises are done in pairs, please find a partner in advance.

Harnesses are beautiful and handy in rope bondage, and there’s so many ways of using them. We'll focus on upper body harnesses.

In this workshop you can choose if you want to approach harnesses in the aspect of suspension or if you want to study them for picture/photoshoot purposes. We’ll work in groups to solve some problems and create new harnesses together! We won’t be doing any patterns step by step but rather inventing our own.

Single registrations ok. Exercises are done in pairs, you can either register together or find a partner at the workshop.
This is a multi level workshop. It means people from different levels of tying can participate. Please note that you’ll get most out of this workshop if;

  • You have some earlier experience in tying, and you know single column tie and some basic frictions (ladder, direction changer/half hitch and munter hitch) before coming to this class.

3.-5.5.2019 Gorgone (Berlin): "Fly strong" - suspension fundamentals

"Fly Strong"  is a two days workshop introduced by an evening class dedicated to rope bottoming skills (mandatory for both riggers and models attending the weekend’s classes). This program was designed to help build/restore confidence in the model’s body and capabilities as well as reinforcing the rigger’s understanding of both rope’s and body’s mechanics. It is ideal for riggers and models new to rope suspension.

This weekend focuses on the research for the optimal use of the body in ropes and how to achieve 'high success rate' suspensions, concentrating on positional studies rather than complex sequences. The goal is to develop more awareness, confidence and stability on both parts in order to achieve stronger partnerships and rewarding experiences.

(NOTE : This is NOT a beginner workshop and riggers should already know and master basic suspension line technics and have achieved at least a few successful static suspensions.)

12.5.2019 Frictions & fundamentals part 4: chaotic suspension (advanced) at 13.30-17.30

Teacher: Ceci Ferox
Price: 20 e/person, ask for possibility of discounted price
Venue: Eskus
Registration: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Tying without patterns is a good way to learn about tension, frictions and placement of rope. Freestyling, going back to basics and breaking rules will help you understand the material you are working with. It will also free your mind for play. Unpredictability might help access deeper levels of connection.

In this workshop we will go through different drills that will help your creativity and communication. We will look at, touch and test the rope to understand cause and effect. We use single and double column ties, frictions and suspension lines to create ties for everybody and every body.

You should take an active and attentive mind with you - tested and tried patterns are always safer than free flow, and this has to be taken into consideration. We will discuss safety concerns in the workshop.

Participant requirements:

  • Good understanding of the fundamentals of tying on the floor and doing suspensions (single & double column tie, ladder, half hitch, munter hitch, X-friction, L-friction, half moon and suspension line frictions and locks).
  • Knowledge on nerve impingements and basic suspension safety.
  • Understanding of own and partner's limits and capability to make informed, negotiated decisions.
  • This should not be your first suspension workshop, but it is possible to stay in semi suspensions and close to the floor if you're unsure of your skill level.
  • No physical requirements for participants.
  • Exercises are done in pairs, please find a partner in advance.

19.5.2019 Floorwork sequence and predicament (intermediate)

Teacher: Nana & roo
Price: 20 e/person, ask for possibility of discounted price
Venue: Eskus
Registration: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

This workshops is about narratives in tying: positioning and tying the body different ways makes our feelings change a lot. Transitioning from a position to another can bring up interesting emotion twists to explore and play with.

Sequence means that we have an intended plan to do this in order to get somewhere we are aiming for. In a way we have a plot for our rope scene. Often we are used to think this way when doing suspension practise - in this workshop we will try to bring this thinking to our floorwork.

To make things even more interesting, we will combine this concept with predicament-ties. What is predicament and how does it work? What can we do with it? How does adding predicament at a certain point of the tie affect to our mindset?

Keep in mind that combining these things might not be easy: be gentle with yourself and come with an open and inventive mind <3 As a teachers giving a workshops we are still experimenting these concepts as well.

WhatsApp Image 2019 05 09 at 11.09.47

Participant requirements:

  • A partner /pair to tie with
  • Awareness of basic body mechanics: knowing and respecting your and your partners physical limits
  • Basic negotiation and communication skills, willingness to trouble shoot & work through challenges
  • Solid understanding at least of the single column tie, direction changer and x-friction and locking off the tie. Knowing how to use these and/or other technique to create solid floor ties.
  • Language: Finnish and/or English, according to needs.

What to bring: 6 ropes or more each approx. 8 meters in length. Comfortable clothes to tie and be tied in. A sketchbook and pen if you wish to make notes/ plan your sequences. Water bottle and snacks, a lunch if you like. There will be a food break of ca 30-40 mins (you may use the kitchen in Eskus).

This workshop will suit you best

  • If you are already familiar with basic suspension techniques and you want to improve understanding of your bottom's centre of gravity and how to play with that
  • If you need guidance how to start moving towards rope suspensions and to do a check-in what you should consider for that

Pre-requirements: this is an intermediate-level workshop!

  • Solid understanding of a single column tie.
  • A solid upper body tie, with a secure stem on the back (chest harness, TK, tengu etc.), that can be used for suspension. You can have your tie checked and suggest improvements, but there won't be time to teach a new pattern.
  • Some experience working with suspension lines. This should not be the first time you tie those.
  • Bottoms should be able to communicate their needs and be aware of common nerve-issues on upper body. (Please ask if you don't know!)

After tying a lot of people and experimenting with different ties, I’ve discovered an alternative for box tie / takatekote. A lot of people can’t place their hands behind their back or keep them there without getting nerve problems.
This tie is not invented by me, it’s learned from Marika Gorgone. Her strappado can be used instead of TK but it’s more versatile and better accommodates different body types.

In this workshop you’ll learn Gorgone’s strappado step by step. We’ll do exercises to create different shapes and explore this tie.

Please note this is an intermediate workshop, also no single registrations.

Requirements for people tying: You should have good understanding of basic ties, frictions, rope handling and communication skills. Some suspension line management experience is needed, but you can use semi suspensions if you’re unsure of your skill level.

Requirements for people getting tied: You should have knowledge on nerve impingements, good communication skills and basic suspension safety.

Workshop will be taught in English, unless everybody speaks Finnish.

Teacher: Amy May
Price: 20 e/participant, ask for reduced price
Venue: Eskus, sali III

Harnesses are handy in full and semi suspensions. You can use them from different angles and for different purposes. In this workshop you’ll learn one chest and one hip harness. We’ll not be using the TK-position for hands but rather exploring in which way do the hands affect the tie when the model is in the air. These ties can be made more comfortable for the bottom or more painful depending on what they like.

This is a full suspension workshop. There will be no separate suspension line management teaching, so you should have some previous experience. It is possible to stay in semi suspensions and closer to the floor if you or your model don’t feel comfortable with going full in the air.

Note that you need to come with a partner to this workshop. Single registrations are not possible.

Participant requirements for riggers: Solid understanding of frictions, good rope handling skills and some experience in suspension lines management.

Participant requirements for models: Good negotiation skills, being able to recognise the difference between circulation and nerve impingement.

Bondage jam 18.3. at 13.30-17

Price: 5 e/participant or peer rope card
Venue: Eskus, sali III
Registration: no registration needed

Rope bondage enthusiasts gather at a jam to have sessions and work on their tying skills. The focus is on individual people playing and learning through doing. The difference to a peer rope evening is that the emphasis is not on sharing knowledge and peer learning.

What is rope all about? Is it the feeling of being captured or the touch of rope on skin? Is it estethics and beauty? Or emotion and connection, a way to create a bubble? Is shibari about nerding out on ties and the rope we make them with?

Come to this workshop to find out what rope is for YOU. We will discuss communication and safety, try out some basic techniques, and most important of all, have lots of fun with rope! Exercises are done in pairs, but you can register as a single and find a tying partner at the workshop.

Requirements: No previous experience of ropes needed. Wear something comfortable that you can move in.

Tying without patterns is a good way to learn about tension, frictions and placement of rope. Freestyling will help you understand the material you are working with and why patterns are built the way they are. It will also free your mind for play. Unpredictability might help access deeper levels of connection.

In this workshop we will go through different drills that will help your creativity and communication. We will look at, touch and test the rope to understand cause and effect.

You should take an active and attentive mind with you - tested and tried patterns are always safer than free flow, and this has to be taken into consideration.

Requirements: Good understanding of basic ties, frictions and suspension lines, good rope handling and communication skills. This should not be your first suspension workshop, but it is possible to stay in semi suspensions and close to the floor if you're unsure of your skill level.

 Marlen Face1

Kristina Marlen (GER): Rope makes sense - Introduction 2.9. at 15-18 @ TAFF

Shibari is the art of Japanese rope bondage, an erotic and ritualized way of tying. A form of art is is for sure, since highly complex ties seem to be reserved for experts. With due respect to Japanese tradition this workshop aims to enable participants to develop a rather anarchic approach to rope leading to inspiring, effective and sensual results within a short period of time.

We use elements of Bodywork, Contact Improvisation and BDSM play to deepen and enrich our rope practice. We open the understanding of restraining and restricting. We explore body mechanics and -movement, understand our own kinaesthetic and sensual body. We sensitize for touch, rhytm and echo in our partners and ourselves while we tie.

The most important point here is to stay connected to one's own body as well as with the body of the rope partner since at the end the end of the day rope is just an extension of the rigger's energy.

Open for about 20 people, any gender and sexual orientation. Bring your own ropes if you have, a limited amount will be provided for borrowing. Please wear comfortable clothes you can move in.

frictions

Frictions 10.9. at 13-17

Frictions are the building blocks of any tie, be it a pattern or just freestyle. They make the structure and safety of a tie. In this workshop you will learn the basic frictions and how they function: ladder, direction changer, munter hitch, x-friction and half moon. Learning frictions will make it easier to understand patterns and inventing your own ties.

Participant requirements: One column tie that you can make even with your eyes closed, and a basic knowledge of rope handling. No physeical requirements for bottoms. It is possible to switch or tie simultaneously in this workshop.

Single column tie self suspensions 1.10. at 13-17

It's like masturbation, but with tying.

Self suspension is a very dynamic artform.

In this workshop, we will use single column ties in different ways to explore suspending ourself.

Participant requirements: Solid understanding of the single column tie learned at peer rope or in a workshop (we will not spend time on teaching it), basic rope handling skills, experience with suspension line management. You don't need a partner for this workshop, but we will work as pairs.

Tifereth (CAN) 11.-12.11.

Tifereth's introduction to rope bondage (and the fetish community) came 5 years ago in the form of a surprisingly enjoyable futomomo tsuri. Since then she's drawn on her backgrounds of high-performance athletics and figurative painting to push herself physically and aesthetically on both ends of the rope.

As an educator Tifereth brings her passion for personal responsibility to empower and inspire those who attend her classes. Her teaching and performing credits include Shibaricon, Bondage Expo Dallas, Bound in Boston, Dark Odyssey, and many more.

Venue: Eskus
Registration: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Tifereth will bring us three workshops:

FULL Exploring, creating, and communicating mood and intent 11.11. 3 h

Price: 30 e/person

Part one: Handling, speed, and efficiency drills. This class will investigate ways of manipulating our rope and our partner for greater efficiency, control, and flow. We will be covering some body manipulation basics, tips and tricks for tying with a minimum of wasted effort, and a few showy performance moves as well.

Part two: Movement, music and mood. In this class we will be exploring using our rope to match both music and our intended mood through movement and pacing. We'll be exploring how to anticipate musical cues, how to maintain connection with our partner through command of tempo, and how to build anticipation in a scene.

FULL Humiliation, degradation, objectification and shame 11.11. 3 h

Price: 30 e/person

This workshop will explore Tifereth's unique approach to humiliation both in and out of rope. We'll examine ways of incorporating ties that expose, degrade and objectify into more intense psychological play, explore playing with failure and shame, as well as covering basic safety and negotiation for this challenging, erotic and rewarding style of play.

Exploring lashing and double columns for suspension 12.11. 6 h

Price: 60 e/person

Part one: Methods of exploration. In this class we will be discussing and exploring ways of approaching experimental rope. We will cover safety considerations, breaking down harnesses into usable components, and using our building blocks to create something new

Part two: Double column ties for suspension. In this class we will be taking the humble double column tie, and pushing it to it's structural limit to create exciting new shapes on the ground and in the air.

Part three: Integrating bamboo 1, lashing. In this class we will explore using simple lashing techniques to integrate bamboo into our ties, enhancing and intensifying otherwise simple ties. We will also cover simple methods of suspension from bamboo.

Part four: Integrating bamboo 2, freeform. In this class we will explore using our bamboo and our partners bodies to create unusual and compelling shapes on the floor and in the air.

hishi

The hishi pattern 19.11. 13-17

The hishi or hoshi (diamond) pattern is quite pretty, but also functional. It doesn't divide the body with vertical lines, but diagonally which can make the tie feel more fexible and divides the pressure of the ropes more evenly on the whole tie.

In this workshop we will learn two hishi variations by tying upper body harnesses. If we have time, we will look at how to apply what we have learned on other parts of the body.

Participant requirements: This is a good continualtion workshop for people who have attended the frictions workshop as we will work with the direction changer, munter hitch, and half moon friction. Also others who know these frictions can attend the workshop. One of the ties is a box tie, so it would be good if the people getting tied would be able to get their hands into the box tie position.

In this workshop, you will have the privilege to profit from the complementary approaches of two rope bondage teachers. Gestalta and Kristina Marlen are two female riggers with very different backgrounds, intention, practise and teaching style.

Gestalta's experiences with rope were purely from the bottom's perspective for many years, and her style is very much influenced by this.  She often ties in a way that is precise and to an extent "rehearsed" in order to create a space of security in which to push and challenge the tied partner. She has a "minimally invasive" style of physical interaction, using other means to create energy, atmosphere and connection within the scene.

Kristina Marlen has a background as bodyworker, dancer and performer. She loves rope work because of the potential to communicate. Rhythm, pace, movement and intuition are parameters that carry her through a rope session. The rope experience is satisfying for her if it's met by a sense of improvisation and instant composition.

In this workshop we will enroll different topics that are interesting for us right now, such as movement of the body (your own and that of your partner) shapes and figures as well as their effect on expression and emotion, building a rope session, establishing contact and flow; floorwork and suspension; pain and sensation play.

You will discover different viewpoints on these topics that might add to each other, synergise, contradict or supplement. You will have the choice to fuse them into your own rope practise or keep them apart.

Inspiration is guaranteed.

Participant requirements: Solid non-collapsible single column tie, a chest harness (box tie or hands free) you're comfortable using for suspension, basic experience in suspension lines. This is a multi level workshop.

Teachers

Gestalta is a shibari teacher and performer based in Berlin. Her approach to shibari has evolved as the result of over a decade of practice on both sides of the ropes and a broad range of influences which she appropriates, mixes and develops in her own practice. This has shaped her teaching style into one that seeks to reflect the experience of both tying partners on a deep level. She has a strong belief that shibari should not be prescriptive and encourages students to explore it as a flexible set of tools; adapting each tie to the body of the tied partner, and to their needs and desires within each individual situation. Her teaching process aims to enable this by giving students a framework of the fundamental principles behind shibari; including safety, efficiency and fluency, but also body awareness, communication, and conscious consideration of their own experiences and motivations.

Kristina Marlen is a body- and sexworker based in berlin. She developed her own method to combine tantric rituals of touch with the elements of BDSM. Her passion is japansese inspried ropebondage. Her background as a physiotherapist, dancer  and yoga teacher, as well as performer  deeply influence her work and her thinking about it. She´s traveling in Europe and beyond to teach , lecture or perform as rope and sex educator, pro sexwork activist and sexpositive feminist. Her ropework  is built upon the multi-angled knowledge she accumulated from her different professions.
