Fittglitter and Neeka from Bound <3 in Stockholm bring you two one-day workshops: one on self suspension and one on communication.

Fittglitter has been an active Kinbaku practitioners for 4 years. She has been on both sides of the ropes since the start, and has equivalent experience in being the person tying as to the person being tied. This is one of the biggest contributing experiences to her tying and on her journey.

For Neeka, rope is about expressing himself, conveying feelings, creating worlds and to emphasize our innermost beauty. His experience is primarily as a tyer, but he spends considerable time in ropes to learn more. He has a long history of education and training in different contexts and has been organizing qualified training since 2005 and in rope education since 2007. He's trained in teaching both theory and practice, with tools like coaching, experience based learning and reflective methods.

Day 1, 19.1. at 10-17 Self suspension - Nobody knows your body better than you do

This day is about xploring self tying as a way to rediscover your body in a pressure-free context and make it feel amazing. Regardless if you identify as a model, rigger or switch, this day will expand your understanding of your own (and other) bodies.

Self suspension can be compared to selfsex, because you have the full possibility to give yourself exactly what you want at the exact moment that you want it - or dont want it. Self suspension and self tying is a perfect way to explore the limitations of your body in a pressure-free context, so either if you identify as a model, rigger or switch this is a good opportunity for someone who wants to expand their knowledge and understanding of your own (and other) bodies better.

Intention and focus

The first priority or this workshop is to have fun and approach your body and rope in a easy and curious way. The focus will be on  body awareness, creating and analysing both the techniques, patterns and rope together with management of doing self suspensions.

We are only experts of own own bodies, so it is encourages that everybody sees themselves as the teacher of this workshop. Nobody other than yourself can tell what works best for you (body and mind) in different situations.

You will be presented with a framework, tools, experience and a safe space; where you and the other participants will decide on what will happen in the ropes.

To summarize some of the subjects we will work on:

  • Getting to know the anatomy and tying for your body
  • Body management
  • Self-tying safety
  • Upline management
  • Handling mid-air self-suspension issues
  • Time and energy management in the air

Requirements

Beginner* or years of experience tying or being tied doesn't matter in this workshop, we will be working together and work from our own set of knowledge, bodies and safety.

*If you are a beginner and want to be taught specific patterns, techniques and for someone to have all the answers for you; this is not the workshop for you.

Equipment:

  • Bring your own rope (6-10)
  • Safety scissors
  • Suspension gear. (Slings, ring or rigging plate is preferable. Only carabiners is non-preferable. Contact Helsinki Shibari if you need to borrow)

Nice to have:

  • Water bottle
  • Quick sugars
  • Note taking materials
  • Comfort things for when you are drained.

Prerequisite patterns:

  • A single-column-tie, a hip harness of your own choice, and understanding of rope frictions. (Understanding of basic pattern mechanics will be useful but not required.)

Day 2, 20.1. at 10-17 Creating and sharing worlds - communication in practice

Connection, dynamic, co-creation. There are many names for the magic we share in ropes. Everyone talks about it, but how does it actually happen?

This is a workshop on the nitty gritty skills of communicating in a rope scene. How we experience the session and how we express ourselves in it. We will explore several ways to convey meaning and build a conversation, with and without words.

Starting from our own modes of communication, we will explore how we convey meaning, how we understand it and how we change it.

We will explore the framework on intersubjectivity, and practical skills on

  • Body language and touch
  • Words and sounds
  • Toning, voice and pronunciation
  • Movement and expression

Pre-requisites:

We do not have prerequisites on the form of rope experience or skill, but rather in maturity and a willingness to learn. We will (mostly) work hard with mental and emotional aspects of rope, please read the class description carefully and consider if it touches on topics you are willing to work on.

Equipment:

  • Clothes you are comfortable in and that allow a free range of movement.
  • Rope if you want to use it

Nice to have:

  • Water bottle
  • Quick sugars
  • Note taking materials
  • Comfort things for when you are mentally and/or emotionally drained.

General information:

  • This workshop contains about equal content for the roles of tyer and tyee.
  • We do not presuppose any power dynamics, and also don’t oppose them.
  • However, most exercises are about communication in one form or the other - if your power dynamic restricts how you communicate with each other, please consider to ease that restriction for the best experience in our class.

Welcome to a day of learning together, peer-to peer! Open space is a method where the group makes the program together. Everyone can facilitate a learning space for a topic they are interested in.

We have one room to use, but it should be possible to have two smaller groups going at the same time. In addition, discussions can be held in the lobby/kitchen or even outside if the weather is nice.

Schedule:
13.30-15 First program slot (1,5 h)
15.30-17.30 Second program slot (2 h)

You can pop in and out of the space and different groups during breaks or during the slot. Vote with your feet!

3.3. Box tie for beginners

THE WORKSHOP IS SOLD OUT

Teacher: Nana & roo
Price: 20 e/person, ask for possibility of discounted price
Venue: Eskus
Registration: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

"Box tie" and/or gote is one of the most basic building blocs of Japanese rope bondage. The tie positions the bottom's hands behind their back and locks them to place. There are endless uses and variations to this tie; in this workshop we explore the uses in floorwork. The options how to tie are versatile enough to adjust to different bodies. The pattern will include a hand cuff, a stem, upper- and lower wraps and cinches.

In this workshop we will look into:

  • finding a position that suits the bottom
  • common safety such as rope placement, tightness, nerve and circulation issues
  • practicing and repeating the building blocks of a 2-rope tie
  • moving the bottom on the floor in the tie
  • testing the tie by playing with it.

This workshop is not ideal for switching: you are likely to learn the most by sticking to either tying or being tied.

Participant requirements: A partner /pair to tie with. Solid understanding of the single column tie, direction changer and x-friction. Basic rope handling, negotiation and communication skills. People in ropes should be able to find a suitable hands-behind-back position: horizontal, low-hands crossed or wrists apart from each other. We won't be tying high-hands position, unless you are already familiar with it.

When registering for the workshop, please describe your tying skills and knowledge of the box tie in one or two sentences, so we can accomodate the participants' needs in the best way possible.

Language: Finnish and/or English, according to needs.

What to bring: 3 or more ropes, each approx. 8 meters in length. Comfortable clothes to tie and be tied in. A sketchbook and pen if you wish to make notes. Water bottle and snacks, a lunch if you like. There will be a food break of ca 30-40 mins (you may use the kitchen in Eskus).

SUOMEKSI

Goten perusteet

Opettajat: Nana & ruu
Hinta: 20e / hlö, kysy alennettua hintaa.
Tila: Eskus
Ilmoittautuminen: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

  • sidottavan liikuttelu gotessa lattialla
  • sidonnan testaaminen lattiasidonnassa ja leikissä

Työpaja ei ole switchaamiselle ihanteellinen - opit todennäköisesti eniten joko sitojana tai sidottavana.

Vaatimokset: Pari /sidontapartneri.

Frictions are the building blocks of any tie, like lego! They make the safety and functionality of any tie. In this workshop we will dive deeper into the frictions for tying on the floor so we can efficiently communicate with our partner. We will look at the ladder, direction changer/half hitch and munter hitch. The content also includes looking at two knots for the single column tie and discussing the functional properties of each. We will continue to learn proper rope handling technique. Helsinki Shibari has ropes you can borrow. This is the second part of a 4 part series and goes well together with part 1 if you are a beginner.

Participant requirements:

  • You can make some kind of single column tie or larkshead.
  • No physical requirements for participants.
  • Exercises are done in pairs, you can either register together or find a partner at the workshop.

The possibilities in partial suspensions are endless. We have the qualities of floor, air and gravity. In this workshop you’ll have the opportunity to explore them all.

We’ll study on manipulating our models body and positions as we also give them some time to test the ties. You’ll be working together to learn the dimensions of partial suspensions and use the gravity as your asset.

I recommend learning some upper body harness (with a possibility to attach a suspension line) before arriving to this workshop. If you don’t know any let me know it in your registration.

This workshop is for you if;
- You’re already familiar with basic suspension frictions and technique
- You want to improve your understanding of a person’s centre of gravity and how to play with that
- You want some guidance before moving to full suspensions

Participant requirements:

  • Good understanding of basic ties, frictions, rope handling and communication skills
  • Some suspension line management experience, this should not be your first suspension workshop
  • People getting tied should have knowledge on nerve impingements and good communication skills

Please note this is an intermediate workshop, no single registrations.

Day 1: Working with body manipulation and armnesses

Skill Requirements: Suspension experience
Skill level: Intermediate-Advanced

Armnesses

This advanced class will cover a variety of suspension worthy harnesses designed to lift from just the arms - no chest support needed! Participants must be proficient in suspension from common chest harnesses with a good grasp of bondage safety basics.

Armensses generally work well for people who can't sustain the box tie position. There is a slight risk of sensation loss in one of the ties for people with tight neck muscles, but proper wrap placement and tension to avoid this will be covered in the class. Bottoms should be capable of sustaining a variety of stress positions involving the arms and shoulders, and be comfortable giving detailed feedback on wrap placement.

Body Mechanics (Ground and Air)

Understanding in an intuitive way the way a body moves in space is essential to sculpting the figure. In this workshop we will explore both on the ground and in the air the way the body moves from the smallest joint lock to the largest transitions, gaining mastery over our efforts to control a person in space in the process.

Day 2: Creating chaos

Skill Requirements: Suspension experience
Skill level: Intermediate-Advanced

Chaotic Rope (Ground and Air)

In this single day workshop we will embrace the beauty of messy rope. Exploring the potential of very unstructured ties first on the ground we will dive into tension management, fixing problems down the line, and containing the figure. From there, we will explore through partial and full suspension two methodologies of safely creating chaos - first by imposing order on an existing chaotic system, and finally by allowing ordered ties to disintegrate into controlled chaos in the air.

We’ll also talk line management, emergency procedures for when the mess gets out of hand, and getting out of corners we’ve tied ourselves into. Bottoms will learn strategies for identifying issues in advance, as well as sensation management techniques for sustaining unusual positions.

7.4. Frictions & fundamentals part 3: suspension (intermediate) at 13.30-17.30

THIS WORKSHOP IS FULL. It's possible to register in line for cancellations.

Teacher: Ceci Ferox
Price: 20 e/person, ask for possibility of discounted price
Venue: Eskus
Registration: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Frictions are the building blocks of any tie, be it a pattern or just freestyle. They make the structure and safety of a tie. In this workshop we will learn the basic frictions used for suspension worthy structures (munter hitch variations, X-friction, L-friction, half moon) and suspension lines (flag friction, half hitch, the yuki knot, slip knot). We can also look at suspending from a bamboo and alternative suspension line frictions depending on the participants' level and interest. The workshop also includes fundamentals of suspension safety.

It is possible to stay on the floor or only do partial suspension in this workshop. This is the third part of a 4 part series, but practice is required after parts 1 & 2 to attend this one.

Participant requirements:

  • Solid understanding of the fundamentals for the floor (single and double column ties, ladder, half hitch, munter hitch).
  • Understanding of own and partner's limits and capability to make informed, negotiated decisions.
  • No physical requirements for participants.
  • Exercises are done in pairs, please find a partner in advance.

Harnesses are beautiful and handy in rope bondage, and there’s so many ways of using them. We'll focus on upper body harnesses.

In this workshop you can choose if you want to approach harnesses in the aspect of suspension or if you want to study them for picture/photoshoot purposes. We’ll work in groups to solve some problems and create new harnesses together! We won’t be doing any patterns step by step but rather inventing our own.

Single registrations ok. Exercises are done in pairs, you can either register together or find a partner at the workshop.
This is a multi level workshop. It means people from different levels of tying can participate. Please note that you’ll get most out of this workshop if;

  • You have some earlier experience in tying, and you know single column tie and some basic frictions (ladder, direction changer/half hitch and munter hitch) before coming to this class.

3.-5.5. Gorgone (Berlin): "Fly strong" - suspension fundamentals

"Fly Strong"  is a two days workshop introduced by an evening class dedicated to rope bottoming skills (mandatory for both riggers and models attending the weekend’s classes). This program was designed to help build/restore confidence in the model’s body and capabilities as well as reinforcing the rigger’s understanding of both rope’s and body’s mechanics. It is ideal for riggers and models new to rope suspension.

This weekend focuses on the research for the optimal use of the body in ropes and how to achieve 'high success rate' suspensions, concentrating on positional studies rather than complex sequences. The goal is to develop more awareness, confidence and stability on both parts in order to achieve stronger partnerships and rewarding experiences.

(NOTE : This is NOT a beginner workshop and riggers should already know and master basic suspension line technics and have achieved at least a few successful static suspensions.)

ABOUT GORGONE

"My method and approach to ropes is deeply influenced by my practice of yoga and other bodyworks together with many years of professional experience on both sides of the rope.

My teaching is directed to both riggers and models, guiding them into developing active, conscious and efficient partnership in order to create succesful rope experiences. I take time with my students to study and deconstruct the basics to help reinforce every party’s understanding of the rope’s and body’s mechanics before going on to more complex structures and sequences.

My pedagogy focuses on encouraging and developing independency, freedom and creativity in the student's practice while maintaining a fundamental background of safety, knowledge and awareness."

12.5. Frictions & fundamentals part 4: chaotic suspension (advanced) at 13.30-17.30

Teacher: Ceci Ferox
Price: 20 e/person, ask for possibility of discounted price
Venue: Eskus
Registration: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Tying without patterns is a good way to learn about tension, frictions and placement of rope. Freestyling, going back to basics and breaking rules will help you understand the material you are working with. It will also free your mind for play. Unpredictability might help access deeper levels of connection.

In this workshop we will go through different drills that will help your creativity and communication. We will look at, touch and test the rope to understand cause and effect. We use single and double column ties, frictions and suspension lines to create ties for everybody and every body.

You should take an active and attentive mind with you - tested and tried patterns are always safer than free flow, and this has to be taken into consideration. We will discuss safety concerns in the workshop.

Participant requirements:

  • Good understanding of the fundamentals of tying on the floor and doing suspensions (single & double column tie, ladder, half hitch, munter hitch, X-friction, L-friction, half moon and suspension line frictions and locks).
  • Knowledge on nerve impingements and basic suspension safety.
  • Understanding of own and partner's limits and capability to make informed, negotiated decisions.
  • This should not be your first suspension workshop, but it is possible to stay in semi suspensions and close to the floor if you're unsure of your skill level.
  • No physical requirements for participants.
  • Exercises are done in pairs, please find a partner in advance.

There are endless possibilities in working with partial suspensions. We will look into handling the body on suspension lines. We also learn how to manipulate the bottom's position, making use of one's weight and the gravity / suspension -contradiction.

This is not a technical-only workshop: trust and communication with your partner comes always first and we will take time to focus on that.

This workshop will suit you best

  • If you are already familiar with basic suspension techniques and you want to improve understanding of your bottom's centre of gravity and how to play with that
  • If you need guidance how to start moving towards rope suspensions and to do a check-in what you should consider for that

Pre-requirements: this is an intermediate-level workshop!

  • Solid understanding of a single column tie.
  • A solid upper body tie, with a secure stem on the back (chest harness, TK, tengu etc.), that can be used for suspension. You can have your tie checked and suggest improvements, but there won't be time to teach a new pattern.
  • Some experience working with suspension lines. This should not be the first time you tie those.
  • Bottoms should be able to communicate their needs and be aware of common nerve-issues on upper body. (Please ask if you don't know!)

Requirements: People who tie should have good understanding of basic ties, frictions and suspension lines, good rope handling and communication skills.  People getting tied should have knowledge on nerve impingements and basic suspension safety. Saturday will be focused on ties in Partial Suspension and Sunday the topic will be working with the body in full Suspension.

Both days will be of Intermediate to Advanced level and will have a mix of technical and playful ties, with dedicated time for discussion and reflection on exercises.

Pedro and Sophia have worked together a few times in these past years, and both approach rope from a 50-50 team perspective, this enables them to provide as much insights as possible to both sides of the rope, the people tying and the people being tied.

Prerequisites (applicable to both workshops):

For Students Tying:

  • Proficiency in tying a non-collapsible single and double column tie
  • A solid stem-based three-rope TK (box tie) e.g., Kanna, Kinoko, Kazami, or an equivalent chest harness - Stemless TK also possible some adaptations might be needed
  • Knowledge of locking off of up-lines
  • Suspension and up-line management experience

For Students Being Tied:

  • Body awareness regarding nerves/circulation/placements/communication
  • Experience with partial suspensions and suspensions
  • No need to be able to be in a TK

Tools for the workshop:

  • Suggested: minimum of 12 hanks of rope (8 meters)
  • Suggested: 1 to 4 pieces of short rope
  • Mandatory: cutting tools
  • Mandatory: ring or carabiners and slings. Although the workshops can be done with ring technique, students tying should be aware that Pedro usually uses carabiners. He carries eight oval carabiners and one carabiner and/or rigging plate as his main hard point.
  • Optional: tenugui (traditional Japanese cloth, usually used as blindfold, gag, etc.)
  • Optional: Yoga mat(s), blanket(s)

Students should be aware that the ties Pedro Cordas and Sophia Rose demonstrate may include hair rope, face rope, neck rope, crotch rope, elements of semenawa and/or close contact that have been previously negotiated.

Students are encouraged to adapt these ties to fit their own risk profiles in collaboration with their partners, including but not limited to physical tailorings as well as emotional intent. Pedro Cordas will be available to help with finding solutions or alternatives within reason.

Gorgone's strappado, alternative tie for TK 2.12. at 13.30-17.30

After tying a lot of people and experimenting with different ties, I’ve discovered an alternative for box tie / takatekote. A lot of people can’t place their hands behind their back or keep them there without getting nerve problems.
This tie is not invented by me, it’s learned from Marika Gorgone. Her strappado can be used instead of TK but it’s more versatile and better accommodates different body types.

In this workshop you’ll learn Gorgone’s strappado step by step. We’ll do exercises to create different shapes and explore this tie.

Please note this is an intermediate workshop, also no single registrations.

Requirements for people tying: You should have good understanding of basic ties, frictions, rope handling and communication skills. Some suspension line management experience is needed, but you can use semi suspensions if you’re unsure of your skill level.

Requirements for people getting tied: You should have knowledge on nerve impingements, good communication skills and basic suspension safety.

Workshop will be taught in English, unless everybody speaks Finnish.

Harnesses are handy in full and semi suspensions. You can use them from different angles and for different purposes. In this workshop you’ll learn one chest and one hip harness. We’ll not be using the TK-position for hands but rather exploring in which way do the hands affect the tie when the model is in the air. These ties can be made more comfortable for the bottom or more painful depending on what they like.

This is a full suspension workshop. There will be no separate suspension line management teaching, so you should have some previous experience. It is possible to stay in semi suspensions and closer to the floor if you or your model don’t feel comfortable with going full in the air.

Note that you need to come with a partner to this workshop. Single registrations are not possible.

Participant requirements for riggers: Solid understanding of frictions, good rope handling skills and some experience in suspension lines management.

Participant requirements for models: Good negotiation skills, being able to recognise the difference between circulation and nerve impingement.

 Marlen Face1

Kristina Marlen (GER): Rope makes sense - Introduction 2.9. at 15-18 @ TAFF

Shibari is the art of Japanese rope bondage, an erotic and ritualized way of tying. A form of art is is for sure, since highly complex ties seem to be reserved for experts. With due respect to Japanese tradition this workshop aims to enable participants to develop a rather anarchic approach to rope leading to inspiring, effective and sensual results within a short period of time.

We use elements of Bodywork, Contact Improvisation and BDSM play to deepen and enrich our rope practice. We open the understanding of restraining and restricting. We explore body mechanics and -movement, understand our own kinaesthetic and sensual body. We sensitize for touch, rhytm and echo in our partners and ourselves while we tie.

The most important point here is to stay connected to one's own body as well as with the body of the rope partner since at the end the end of the day rope is just an extension of the rigger's energy.

Open for about 20 people, any gender and sexual orientation. Bring your own ropes if you have, a limited amount will be provided for borrowing. Please wear comfortable clothes you can move in.

Single column tie self suspensions 1.10. at 13-17

It's like masturbation, but with tying.

Self suspension is a very dynamic artform. Not only can you transition by moving the ropes, but you also transition by moving your body in the ropes. You can create interesting shapes and sensations, explore how moving affects your center of gravity, your weight in the ropes, and sense even small differences in your tying immediately. You can explore where ropes feel good or bad, and where they feel bad in a good way. You find which parts of your body are strong.

In this workshop, we will use single column ties in different ways to explore suspending ourself.

Participant requirements: Solid understanding of the single column tie learned at peer rope or in a workshop (we will not spend time on teaching it), basic rope handling skills, experience with suspension line management. You don't need a partner for this workshop, but we will work as pairs.

We will approach this workshop through the sense of sight and touch and through approaching partials through movement and shapes connected to our mutual desires instead of set ties and shapes we can find new ways of connecting with rope. This workshop will push you towards expanding what is possible to see and feel.

This class will also include suspension line management drills. We will look at gear, what to use and how to use it as well as foundations of securing suspensionlines.

Participant requirements: Participants must be comfortable with one and two column ties, and have some experience securing suspension lines, as well as being able to recognise the difference between circulation & nerve impingement & communicate this.

Hedwig is passionate about communication, rope bondage, safer sex and consent culture, about redressing notions of power, physical sensations, vulnerability, dominance and submission, gender and communities working together.

She hopes to bring rope bondage to a larger audience as a way to gain more body awareness, work on interpersonal communication and offer different routes to pleasure and surrender.

Kosketus ja kommunikaatio 22.10. klo 13-17

This workshop is in Finnish.

Opettaja: Julius Elo
Hinta: 20 eur/henkilö

Tifereth (CAN) 11.-12.11.

Tifereth's introduction to rope bondage (and the fetish community) came 5 years ago in the form of a surprisingly enjoyable futomomo tsuri. Since then she's drawn on her backgrounds of high-performance athletics and figurative painting to push herself physically and aesthetically on both ends of the rope.

As an educator Tifereth brings her passion for personal responsibility to empower and inspire those who attend her classes. Her teaching and performing credits include Shibaricon, Bondage Expo Dallas, Bound in Boston, Dark Odyssey, and many more.

Venue: Eskus

Tifereth will bring us three workshops:

FULL Exploring, creating, and communicating mood and intent 11.11. 3 h

Price: 30 e/person

Part one: Handling, speed, and efficiency drills. This class will investigate ways of manipulating our rope and our partner for greater efficiency, control, and flow. We will be covering some body manipulation basics, tips and tricks for tying with a minimum of wasted effort, and a few showy performance moves as well.

Part two: Movement, music and mood. In this class we will be exploring using our rope to match both music and our intended mood through movement and pacing. We'll be exploring how to anticipate musical cues, how to maintain connection with our partner through command of tempo, and how to build anticipation in a scene.

FULL Humiliation, degradation, objectification and shame 11.11. 3 h

Price: 30 e/person

This workshop will explore Tifereth's unique approach to humiliation both in and out of rope. We'll examine ways of incorporating ties that expose, degrade and objectify into more intense psychological play, explore playing with failure and shame, as well as covering basic safety and negotiation for this challenging, erotic and rewarding style of play.

Exploring lashing and double columns for suspension 12.11. 6 h

Price: 60 e/person

Part one: Methods of exploration. In this class we will be discussing and exploring ways of approaching experimental rope. We will cover safety considerations, breaking down harnesses into usable components, and using our building blocks to create something new

Part two: Double column ties for suspension. In this class we will be taking the humble double column tie, and pushing it to it's structural limit to create exciting new shapes on the ground and in the air.

Part three: Integrating bamboo 1, lashing. In this class we will explore using simple lashing techniques to integrate bamboo into our ties, enhancing and intensifying otherwise simple ties. We will also cover simple methods of suspension from bamboo.

Part four: Integrating bamboo 2, freeform. In this class we will explore using our bamboo and our partners bodies to create unusual and compelling shapes on the floor and in the air.

hishi

The hishi pattern 19.11. 13-17

The hishi or hoshi (diamond) pattern is quite pretty, but also functional. It doesn't divide the body with vertical lines, but diagonally which can make the tie feel more fexible and divides the pressure of the ropes more evenly on the whole tie.

In this workshop we will learn two hishi variations by tying upper body harnesses. If we have time, we will look at how to apply what we have learned on other parts of the body.

Participant requirements: This is a good continualtion workshop for people who have attended the frictions workshop as we will work with the direction changer, munter hitch, and half moon friction. Also others who know these frictions can attend the workshop. One of the ties is a box tie, so it would be good if the people getting tied would be able to get their hands into the box tie position.

Gestalta & Kristina Marlen (Berlin) 24.-26.11.

In this workshop, you will have the privilege to profit from the complementary approaches of two rope bondage teachers. Gestalta and Kristina Marlen are two female riggers with very different backgrounds, intention, practise and teaching style.

Gestalta's experiences with rope were purely from the bottom's perspective for many years, and her style is very much influenced by this.  She often ties in a way that is precise and to an extent "rehearsed" in order to create a space of security in which to push and challenge the tied partner. She has a "minimally invasive" style of physical interaction, using other means to create energy, atmosphere and connection within the scene.

Kristina Marlen has a background as bodyworker, dancer and performer. She loves rope work because of the potential to communicate. Rhythm, pace, movement and intuition are parameters that carry her through a rope session. The rope experience is satisfying for her if it's met by a sense of improvisation and instant composition.

In this workshop we will enroll different topics that are interesting for us right now, such as movement of the body (your own and that of your partner) shapes and figures as well as their effect on expression and emotion, building a rope session, establishing contact and flow; floorwork and suspension; pain and sensation play.

You will discover different viewpoints on these topics that might add to each other, synergise, contradict or supplement. You will have the choice to fuse them into your own rope practise or keep them apart.

Inspiration is guaranteed.

Participant requirements: Solid non-collapsible single column tie, a chest harness (box tie or hands free) you're comfortable using for suspension, basic experience in suspension lines. This is a multi level workshop.

Teachers

Gestalta is a shibari teacher and performer based in Berlin. Her approach to shibari has evolved as the result of over a decade of practice on both sides of the ropes and a broad range of influences which she appropriates, mixes and develops in her own practice. This has shaped her teaching style into one that seeks to reflect the experience of both tying partners on a deep level. She has a strong belief that shibari should not be prescriptive and encourages students to explore it as a flexible set of tools; adapting each tie to the body of the tied partner, and to their needs and desires within each individual situation. Her teaching process aims to enable this by giving students a framework of the fundamental principles behind shibari; including safety, efficiency and fluency, but also body awareness, communication, and conscious consideration of their own experiences and motivations.

Kristina Marlen is a body- and sexworker based in berlin. She developed her own method to combine tantric rituals of touch with the elements of BDSM. Her passion is japansese inspried ropebondage. Her background as a physiotherapist, dancer  and yoga teacher, as well as performer  deeply influence her work and her thinking about it. She´s traveling in Europe and beyond to teach , lecture or perform as rope and sex educator, pro sexwork activist and sexpositive feminist. Her ropework  is built upon the multi-angled knowledge she accumulated from her different professions.
