Helsinki Shibari’s Social Safety Practices

Helsinki Shibari is committed to promoting the safety and security of our community. We are fully run by volunteers and are not professionals, but we do our best to support those who feel unsafe or need assistance.

1. Safer Space Rules and Consequences

At all our events, we follow the principles of Helsinki Shibari. Violating these rules may result in a warning, removal from the venue, or a temporary or permanent ban. Based on Helsinki Shibari’s decision, participation in future events may also be restricted or prohibited for a set period or indefinitely. If necessary, these measures may also be applied if the concern arises outside of Helsinki Shibari events.

After a temporary ban ends, we will have a conversation with the person before they can participate in our events again. The goal of this discussion is to determine whether they are ready to return to the community.

2. Privacy Protection and Information Handling

Helsinki Shibari strives to respect privacy as much as possible. We do not share information or respond to inquiries about individuals publicly. However, if asked privately, we may provide information on whether a specific person can attend future events. All reported situations are handled confidentially.

3. Purpose of Measures

The goal of these measures is not to punish misconduct or resolve personal disputes but to maintain the safety of the community. We cannot address all personal situations or factors that may contribute to feelings of insecurity, but we do our best to support our community.

4. Getting Support and Reporting Misconduct

If you experience harassment, discrimination, feel unsafe, believe someone has broken the rules or crossed your boundaries, see something dangerous, or need support with anything big or small, you can talk to the organizers. We will handle the situation with you confidentially and agree on the necessary steps. Suspicious behavior can also be reported without hesitation. Organizers have the right to intervene and stop a tying session if it appears that you are tying beyond your skill level or if something seems dangerous.

Remember, even an organizer can misuse power—if this happens, you can approach another one of our organizers directly. You can reach out to organizers at our events, through the anonymous feedback form on our website, or via email at helsinkishibariry@gmail.com.

If you have concerns about your safety at Helsinki Shibari events or want to ask more about our safety practices, you can contact the organizing team via email or the anonymous feedback form. If you would like a response to your feedback, please include your email address at the end of the form. Feedback can also be submitted anonymously, as the form does not automatically save contact details.

Best regards,

The Helsinki Shibari Organizing Team
